Late start heading out of St. Dalmas... |
Fontan, gateway to Saorge for me... and my last stretch of level ground for awhile... |
Heading up to Saorge... this sucked, about 1200ft of "up". |
But a nice view of Fontan when you get there. I really enjoy the fact that when you "move" here you can see where you have been... contributes to a sense of accomplishment and makes you feel big and small at the same time. |
Coming down into picturesque Saorge |
Ok, this town wants it's picture taken. |
This is the Madone de Poggio, according to the Green Guide, it is the oldest Christian building in the Roya valley. |
More views of Saorge |
All the way down again... neato new tunnel construction. |
Very cool remains of an aqua duct system over a green pond. |
Fall colors... |
A couple looks back at Saorge... it is just to the left of the tip of the sign. |
Getting cold, getting dark, |
Uh, don't know... |
Looking down into Breil sur Roya... had no more time to take pics as I really had to hoof it to make the last train to Nice, otherwise it would be back through Italy and Ventimigglia again... |
