Old Town (Vielle Ville)
Marche aux Fleurs

This area is a flower/vegetable market Tue-Fri and Mondays it is an antiques market. There are also many restaurants that cater to tourists here.

Roman red and gold are everywhere in the old town. Nice was part of Italy until 1860. It was a gift to France for the help they gave in the Italian Revolution.Giuseppe Garabaldi one of the leaders of the revolution was born in Nice.
Gelato in spades... it's more like Italy than France/
Cathedrale Ste-Repartarte c.1650, in Place Rossetti. Built to honor the patron saint of Nice, a teenage virgin who was martryed in Asia Minor and who's body floated into Nice accompanied by by angels. Note the glazed tile dome. The bell tower was added in the 18th century.
Matisse lived her for 17 years... at the end of Cours Saleya
Flowers
Nice, and the entire Cote d'Azur is know for growing flowers... just some about town or at the market
I am told these are called "Birds of Paradise", but I am going to call the "Flowering Loon Heads"
